The next few days are going to be great for rain lovers in the DMV, but not so much for everyone else.
Today and early tomorrow, we will have rain showers on and off. Highest rainfall rates will most likely be in the late afternoon and early evening on Tuesday, as dry air to the north will help diminish the rain and keep it further south towards Richmond/Virginia Beach. Below is the TerpWRF forecast for 2am Wednesday morning showing our area firmly in the rain, but it looks like it will shift to our south, keeping us mostly dry tomorrow. But it would still be wise just to keep the umbrella around for the stray shower on Wednesday.
Once the rain ends, we will dry out briefly and see seasonable temperatures around the area for late Wednesday/Thursday.
For our weekend, unfortunately, rain will return to our area. There is still some uncertainty for the timing, but rain will start most likely sometime on Friday and last through most of Saturday.
For the long term, the beginning of next week looks like slightly above average temperatures and dry, perfect to start UMD’s spring break!
