Today: Today is the first day of fall according to the autumnal equinox, though it’ll feel more like a muggy summer day rather than a cool, crisp fall afternoon, with temps getting into the low 80s and dew points reaching the low 70s. Mostly overcast conditions are expected along with intermittent light rain showers throughout much of the day. In addition, winds will be fairly brisk at 10 to 15 mph out of the southeast with gusts up to 20 mph.
Tonight: Expect much of the same sky conditions overnight as during the day, although rain chances increase during the early morning hours. Temperatures should remain steady in the low 70s. Winds also remain fairly steady out of the southeast at 10 to 15 mph.
Tomorrow (Thursday): A pretty strong cold front associated with an upper level trough is expected to move through our region during the midday Thursday, bringing with it our first taste of fall once it passes. However, the day will still start out warm and muggy while winds remain out of the southeast at 10 to 15 mph. Expect light to moderate rain showers throughout the morning and heavy rain showers as the cold front passes through in the afternoon. Some rumbles of thunder may accompany these storms. New precipitation amounts of 1 to 1.25 inches of rain are possible. After the front moves through, that cooler air will be greeting us behind it and skies will begin to clear. Winds will shift to the northwest at 5 to 7 mph during the afternoon as well.
Tomorrow Night (Thursday): Temperatures steadily drop through the day, reaching the lower 60s and maybe even falling to the upper 50s as skies begin to clear up overnight. Winds remain steady out of the northwest at 5 to 7 mph.
A Look Ahead: High pressure builds in on Friday and sticks around for the weekend and beyond, making for some beautiful, sunny days ahead. High temperatures will be in the lower 70s while humidity plummets for the weekend, so definitely find some time to get outside and enjoy the beautiful fall weather.
