Although today was wet and grey, the weather for the weekend is going to be spectacular. This is especially exciting because Maryland Day is going to be taking place on the University of Maryland’s campus tomorrow!
Through Tonight:
There is a chance the sun may peak out right before sunset, but expect mostly cloudy skies through this evening. However, the clouds will pass and will gradually become mostly clear by midnight. The low is expected to be around 50 with an initial north wind around 4-6 mph that will become lighter and more variable later overnight.
Tomorrow (Maryland Day):
Mostly clear skies in the morning will allow temperatures to rise into the low 70s by mid-afternoon. Clouds will begin increasing in the afternoon and a slight chance of a scattered shower or thunderstorm is possible. Winds will start calm increasing to 6 to 10 mph from the southwest by the afternoon. In the evening, a slight chance of showers may still linger, but clouds will begin to move out allowing for clear skies. Winds will shift to north-westerly at 8-11 mph cooling temperatures down to the low 40s.
Sunday:
Sunday will be mostly clear for the entire day, but with the cool northwest winds at 10-15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph, temperatures will be back to below normal with high temperatures struggling to reach 60 degrees. Sunday night will remain mostly clear allowing temperatures to fall to the low 40s again.
Looking Ahead:
Next week is looking very nice as we enter May. Temperatures warming back to mid 60s on Monday and mid 70s by Tuesday with mostly sunny skies. By Wednesday, temperatures are looking to be over 80 degrees again and may even try to break 90. Keep updated with UMD weather to see how next week will unfold.
