This week, expect clear conditions and rising temperatures as the week progresses
Today:
Temperatures are starting in the lower 40s before climbing up to a high in the low to mid-50s after noon. In the evening we’ll be seeing a drop into the 30s. Expect winds to be in the 6 mph range and sunny skies throughout the day.
Tonight:
Overnight temperatures are expected to be in the 30s. Skies should stay clear throughout the night, with winds keeping consistent at 6 mph.
Tomorrow (Thursday):
Tomorrow sees temperatures starting in the high 30s, but they are expected to rise to a high in the upper 50s. We could potentially even reach the 60s in the afternoon, which is a vast improvement over the past couple days! Don’t go putting your winter coats away however, as we drop back into the lower 50s, then the mid-40s as evening falls. Some mild cloud cover will persist, but winds are staying stable and light throughout the day.
Looking Ahead:
Don’t worry, the cold temperatures will start fading by the end of the week, reaching up to the 70s as we hit the weekend. Sunny days will be the norm, with some occasional mild cloud cover to give us some shade.
Discussion:
Why did it suddenly get so chilly after the 70s and 80s we had last week? Well, a cold front is making its way through our area, pushing warm air out and bringing temperatures down. Now while cold fronts can bring bad weather, the relative humidity in the area is incredibly low, so we’re just having cold temperatures until the front makes its way out by around Thursday, which is when we start seeing those temperatures rise. A high pressure system to the northwest of us moving in over the next couple of days is helping reinforce the mild and sunny conditions we’ll be seeing, along with giving us that gorgeous spring sunshine.

The map above displays the surface dewpoint and wind barbs. Our area is relatively dry, which explains the sunny conditions and overall lack of precipitation we’ll be seeing this week. Isobars over our area also indicate the higher pressure that’s reinforcing the fair weather.
