Today: In contrast to the beautiful stretch of weather we’ve had recently, today presents storminess for the first time in a while due to an approaching cold front. It’ll be mild and humid to start the day with areas of patchy fog and possible drizzle. Towards midday, mainly starting after noon, heavy rain is expected to move into the area and produce off and on showers for the rest of the day. Some rumbles of thunder are possible in conjunction with these storms. Winds will be from the south at 8-10 mph. The high will be 72 degrees.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms will continue after sunset and last for the better duration of the night as the cold front continues to move through our region. Overnight rainfall totals could be between 1-2 inches in some areas, presenting a possible flash flood threat. Winds will shift from the southwest to the northwest as temperatures remain pretty stagnant and mild with an expected low of 66 degrees.

Thursday: Rain showers will persist in the area throughout the morning and won’t begin to taper off until around noon as the cold front finally makes its way out of here. Cloudy conditions will still follow the departure of the rain as winds shift north to around 10-12 mph. The temperature will actually be decreasing throughout the day due to the passing front. As a result, expect morning temps to be in the mid-60s and drop into the 50s in the afternoon and evening.

Thursday Night: Overcast conditions will be present much of the night with a slight chance for a brief shower. Light northeasterly winds will be present with temperatures remaining fairly stagnant once again. Expect a low of 50 degrees.

A Look Ahead: A slight chance of rain on Friday precedes what looks to be a fairly decent weekend with mild temperatures and sunny conditions as a ridge of high pressure builds into the region beginning early Saturday morning.
