Happy Valentine’s Day, Terps! Mainly cloudy with the sun peeking through, today is not a bad day to be in College Park. This week is ending on a warmer note with a high today in the mid-50s and a high temperature on Friday reaching about 60 degrees due to air flowing in from the south. Although you won’t need the heavy jacket when walking to class over the next few days, you will need to keep it handy when the weekend hits.
Tonight:
Temperatures will fall into the low-40s after the sun goes down, so if you’re planning to head out tonight make sure to bring a jacket! Clouds will begin moving into the area and winds will be around 8 mph. Overall not a bad night for February!
Tomorrow (Friday):
Although tomorrow will be a fairly cloudy day, air will continue moving in from the south, bringing temperatures as high as the low-60s tomorrow afternoon. Winds will be stronger than usual, gusting around 20 mph. There is a slight chance of showers but should be an overall dry day. If you don’t mind wind, it will be a nice day to hang out on the mall.
Tomorrow Night:
Winter will strike again Friday night due to a cold front moving through and bringing temperatures down to the low-30s. Winds will be around 7 mph and there exists a slight chance of precipitation, but it will most likely hold off until the weekend.
A Look Ahead:
Low pressure will move across the region bringing a chance of precipitation on Saturday. Snow is a possibility, but it could be a rain/snow mix when temperatures rise above freezing. There are also a few more chances for some rain or snow next week, so keep an eye out for our future articles!
