Despite the cold temperatures, Terps were still out and about today for the first day of classes for the spring semester. While the bright, sunny day encouraged students to leave the warmth of the dorms, the wintry mix starting tomorrow morning may impact commutes to and from classes. Sunny skies will return again on Wednesday.
Tonight:
Temperatures will slowly drop to the mid-20s throughout the evening, so don’t forget a warm coat if going outside tonight! Skies will remain completely clear with extremely light 1 mph winds until around 11 p.m.. Temperatures will rise to high-20s later in the night as clouds develop with the incoming front.
Tomorrow (Tuesday):
Freezing rain is expected to begin around 8 a.m., transitioning into rain by mid-morning as the temperatures rise to the mid-30s. The rain will continue throughout the day, transitioning into a snow mixture around 5 p.m. as the temperature drops back below freezing. Take extra caution when commuting as conditions can impact roads and walkways. Winds will remain below 5 mph throughout the day.
Tomorrow Night:
Snow showers are expected to stop between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m.. Temperatures will remain in the high-20s until around midnight, when the temperature will begin to drop and reaches a low of 18 degrees early Wednesday morning. Be sure to bundle up for any night time adventures!
