It is March 15th and the average high temperature in College Park is 55-degrees, but here we are still wearing our big coats and scarves with temperatures in the 40s, much below average. Luckily the sun came out for a good portion of the day with the high temperature reaching 49-degrees. The winds kept things chilly, however, leaving everyone on campus wondering when the spring warmth will arrive.
Through Tonight:
The cold weather continues as the mercury dips into the low-to-mid 30s. Luckily, the clouds will move out later tonight keeping any rain away from the DMV. The winds will also decrease tonight, only reaching 5-9 mph.
Tomorrow (Friday):
The sunshine will be back on Friday but Old Man Winter will keep his chilly grip around College Park. Highs will only make it into the mid-40s, about 10-degrees cooler than the average for this time of year. The winds will kick up again gusting up to 32 mph at times. Wear your warmest hat as wind chills will make it feel like the low-to-mid 30s.
When is spring you may ask? We still have until lunch time on Tuesday, March 20 for the Spring Equinox to take place. Have you been counting down the days until warmer weather? Don’t worry, we have been too. Each day we get a few more minutes of sunlight helping to warm us chilly terps below.
