Good Wednesday afternoon! Tranquility has been quite friendly to the mid-Atlantic region on the busiest travel day of the year. If you are traveling along the east coast this evening, then you won’t have to worry about any significant weather near the DMV area. By tonight, pleasurable conditions (along with increasing clouds) will persist and temperatures will become more seasonable into the Thanksgiving holiday. A trailing weak cold front will increase cloud cover and produce a few rain showers by early Thursday morning.

Through Tonight: Clear and comfy tonight! High pressure, remaining in dominant control overhead, will continue to drift offshore throughout the remainder of the evening. 20-degree dewpoints (signifying a relatively dry air mass) will slightly increase into the mid-30s overnight. Overall, you might want to hang onto your jackets if you are running out to the store to grab last minute meal items. Temperatures will settle into the upper-30s in the suburbs and low-40s near the District. Expect calm winds and mostly cloudy skies.
Tomorrow (Thanksgiving): Overcast skies and early morning rain showers will limit sunshine and keep us seasonably comfortable. The earliest rain showers are anticipated to arrive after 7 a.m. and will wash out around noon (image above). A possible stray shower is expected throughout the afternoon. South-southeast winds will provide a light warm breeze (up to 6 mph) and should help boost daytime temperatures into the mid-50’s (normal high temperature is 55°F).
