Today:
Expect mostly cloudy conditions as we begin our day on Monday, but the gloomy skies should clear out in the late afternoon before sunset. Morning lows start in the upper 40s and low 50s and will rise to the low 60s in the late afternoon. Breezes stay calm around 5 mph.
Tonight:
After the sun sets (at 5 p.m.!), nighttime temperatures will remain in the 50s, and expect calm breezes and clear skies.
Tomorrow (Tuesday):
Tuesday is looking like a beautiful day to be outside, and also a great day with no major weather obstacles to get out for election day! Temperatures begin with morning lows in the mid-40s and warm up to a daytime high in the low 60s after lunchtime. The winds pick up to around 10 mph by the late morning before calming down by sunset. Expect clear skies and gusty conditions during the daytime, with gusts up to 20 mph possible.
Looking Ahead:
College Park can look forward to uneventful weather, clear skies, and comfortable fall temperatures for the remainder of the week. Wednesday temperatures are expected to be slightly warmer, with highs in the upper 60s and low 70s, but, overall, the general pattern of nighttime lows in the 40s and daytime highs in the 60s should continue for the remainder of the workweek.
Discussion:
An upper air trough rolls off the coast on Monday, which accounts for the cloudy conditions that we’ll see today. Otherwise, once that’s out of the way, high pressure will build to our south, and the upper air pattern shifts to being primarily zonal (meaning, straight east-to-west flow without any major dips in the jet stream, in our case) until the end of the week, which will generally point to no major weather events for the workweek.

The winds on Tuesday will come as a result of the pressure gradient between the southern high pressure that builds up on Monday night and the low pressure associated with the trough mentioned previously. Otherwise, the Mid-Atlantic sits under a region of high pressure for the week, which should keep temperatures mild and our skies sunny!
This is a great week to get out and see some sunshine. The D.C.-Maryland-Virginia region can look forward to pleasant weather with no major concerns.
That’s all we have for this week. Thanks for tuning in!
