Discussion:
What is bringing us this long-awaited fall weather? Hurricane Imelda has completely moved away from the coast and high-pressure has dominated our region, which will stay true for the next couple of days. This high-pressure came from the north, and advected, or moved, cooler air with it, explaining the cooldown in temperatures we will be feeling.

Here is the high-pressure system moving down into our area circled in pink, coming from a region with generally colder temperatures than those of which we have been feeling recently.
In terms of the dry weather we will have, high-pressure is associated with areas of sinking air. This enforces a stable atmospheric environment, which inhibits convection that could lead to rain/storms.
That’s all for today. Have a great day, Terps!
