Today:
Despite previous weeks of daily high temperatures in the 60s or 70s, this weekend will prove that summer really has arrived in Maryland! In Western Maryland, morning temperatures will start in the high-60s and work their way into the mid-80s by the afternoon, with a high temperature in the upper 80s. The early evening will see temperatures stay stagnant in the mid-80s.
In Central and Southern Maryland, morning temperatures in the low-70s will eventually reach a daytime high in the late afternoon in the low-90s. Evening temperatures will dip down into the mid-80s.
Across the Chesapeake Bay on the Eastern Shore, temperatures will start in the mid-70s and reach a daytime high in the low-90s come afternoon. By the evening, temperatures will move into the mid-80s.
Throughout the state, winds will be light and variable, but may increase into the 5-to-10 miles per hour range towards the early evening. Expect dry conditions throughout the day.
Tonight:
Low temperatures will be in the high-60s to low-70s range throughout the state. Winds will be light and variable. Some passing clouds may enter the region overnight.
Sunday:
Generally, high temperatures across the state will be hotter than today, with sunny skies and persistent light and variable winds. In Western Maryland, temperatures start in the mid-60s and make way for a high temperature in the high-80s by the afternoon. Evening temperatures stay stagnant in the high-80s.
In Central and Southern Maryland, morning temperatures vary between the high-70s to low-80s throughout the region. A daytime high will be reached in the mid-to-high-90s, after which temperatures drop into the mid-80s come evening.
On the Eastern Shore, expect temperatures in the low-70s to reach a high in the upper 90s by the afternoon, which only slightly cools into the mid-90s by the evening.
Looking Ahead:
The majority of Maryland will see extreme heat for the first half of next week, with high temperatures in the upper 90s. Some areas may see temperatures exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit! High humidity totals, like those of which we will be feeling next week, can cause temperatures to feel hotter than they really are. Without any rain providing a much-needed cool down, it’s especially important to stay hydrated and wear sunblock if you are outside!

This weekend is no exception for high humidity, as seen on this map showing humidity values in the Mid-Atlantic region for tomorrow. Humidity ranges are quite high: from 70% to 90%.
We hope everyone has been having a great summer! Stay tuned for more posts throughout the summer from us!
