Morning Update: Sunday Schleps Shivers and Squalls

(Yes, I know schlep seems like a bit of a stretch, but forgive me for going above and beyond for the sake of alliteration)

Today: After temperatures drop rapidly over the course of Saturday evening, they will remain low through Sunday, with highs in the high 40s and lows in the low 30s. Winds will be very strong today, with gusts possibly reaching 30 mph and staying consistently beyond 20 mph. Outdoor activities could be limited today as wind chill should be pretty extreme throughout the day.

Tonight: Winds and chilly temperatures continue tonight, with temperatures potentially dipping below freezing in the hours before dawn. As a high pressure system moves in, winds will begin to die down overnight, allowing for more cooling due to the stability of the atmosphere. A freeze watch is in effect for all of Sunday night into Monday morning.

Tomorrow (Monday): A chillier but less windy day will follow. Highs should be in the mid 40s and lows will be below freezing. The high pressure system will build up stronger throughout the day Monday, allowing for less wind and more sunny skies on a brisk day. All in all, these are a couple of days where a jacket will be a necessity at all times.

A Look ahead: Tuesday could potentially bring our first snow/wintry mix of the year! With a low pressure system moving into the area Tuesday morning, precipitation should follow. Depending on the temperature of the atmosphere and surface, we could get some snow, wintry mix, or, at worst, some really cold rain. However, it should be noted that models are not in agreement on forecasting this system, so at best we know there is a high chance of precipitation throughout Tuesday. Even with a low pressure system moving in, temperatures will remain below normal throughout the rest of the week, with highs generally sticking around the mid 40s and lows in the low 30s.
