Morning Update: A Brief Break from the Clouds

Today:

It’s another gray and gloomy day here in College Park as the trend of the past few days persists. Expect cloudy skies throughout most of the morning with temperatures in the high 50s to low 60s as the morning begins. However, as the day goes on, we should finally see the cloud deck begin clearing and we may even get peeks of sunshine as the day progresses. Expect partly cloudy skies in the afternoon with a light breeze and highs reaching the upper 60s. It will be a great seasonal fall day, perfect for a light sweater. Be sure to keep a rain jacket packed, as there is a slight chance for precipitation as a cold front makes its way through the area later in the day.

Tonight:

Skies continue to clear as the clouds we’ve had for the last few days begin to disappear, setting us up for a perfect day tomorrow. It will be still be a warmer night for the season, with clear skies and temperatures in the mid 50s. Another great night for stargazing (if you can see past the DC lights).

Tomorrow (Thursday):

Tomorrow should be the pick of the week. The clouds finally give way to a beautiful sunny fall day, a much needed refresher to pick us up out of the midterm gloom. Temperatures will reach the mid 60s, and with the sun it should feel as though September is making a comeback. With no chance of rain and a 10 mph light breeze, you can’t ask for a better fall day. Take advantage of it while you can. Set up a hammock or just relax on the mall, this weather won’t last for much longer.

A Look Ahead:

The latter half of this week looks less ideal, with the clouds returning and temperatures dropping to more seasonal levels, with highs in the high 50s and very low 60s. The chance for precipitation remains low, but increases as the weekend goes on. Get your trick or treating in early, as Halloween is looking wet.
