Morning Update: Old Man Winter Ain’t Hear No Bell

Today:

Temperatures look to start out pretty mild today as a warm front makes its way north, ahead of an approaching storm system. Overcast conditions will greet us to start the day before showers begin to move in around midday. These showers should remain fairly steady throughout the rest of the day before an evening lull kicks in. New rainfall amounts will approach half to three-quarters of an inch. Winds will remain steady out of the south at 7-9 mph but could gust higher within storms. The high will be 65 degrees.

Tonight:

The evening lull in rain won’t last too long as more showers should roll in after 10 p.m. or so. There is a small possibility that some snow could actually mix in with the rain but even if it does, it won’t stick to any surfaces. Lingering precipitation will continue late into the night as a strong cold front makes its way through the region. Temperatures should remain fairly steady in the high 50s to low 60s early but will drop rapidly in association with the passing of this front. Winds will shift to the northwest at 13-15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. New rainfall amounts up to a quarter inch are possible. The low will be 39 degrees.

Tomorrow (Thursday):

There is a slight chance of lingering drizzle in the early morning hours but that should pass by mid-morning. Clouds begin to clear after 8 a.m., but temperatures won’t look to get above the mid 40s throughout the day. Overall it looks to be a dry but blustery day, with northwest winds at 18-20 mph and gusts up to 30 mph, keeping wind chills in the upper 30s for much of the day. The high will be 46.

Tomorrow Night:

A clear, dry night is anticipated ahead but the gusty conditions will continue. Winds will remain out of the northwest at 13-15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Also, hope you didn’t put away your winter coats just yet because temperatures may actually get below freezing overnight. Temperatures as a low of 29 degrees are expected with wind chills in the low 20s.

A Look Ahead:

Friday and Saturday look to remain fairly cool, however, during this time of year, temperatures tend to bounce back relatively quickly and we see just that with highs back in the upper 60s to low 70s by early next week. Skies also look to remain clear for the foreseeable future.
