Morning Update: First Full Week of Spring

This week, we’ll be kicking off spring the right way. Warm weather, a chance of showers, and possibly a thunderstorm? We have it all this week!

Today:

Low level moisture from onshore flow last night is expected to linger, so today we can expect a fair amount of cloud cover; some areas will experience overcast all day, while others could see considerable sunshine peaking through the clouds. The high temperature will be in the low to mid 60s F, with a light breeze from the northeast.

Tonight:

The clouds will continue to linger, with rain expected to begin sometime overnight. Don’t fret; we probably won’t get much rain (i.e., less than one-tenth of an inch), but the light showers will give you spring vibes tomorrow morning. The low tonight will be 50 F.

Tomorrow (Wednesday):

Rain will likely continue into the early afternoon, and we can expect mostly cloudy skies after the rain stops. Today, the high will be very similar to yesterday’s high at around 62 degrees F. Expect a mild, calm night after daylight hours on Wednesday.

Our area is most likely to experience more than 0.01 inches of rain between 8am and 2pm on Wednesday. This is the 6-hr Probabilistic Qualitative Precipitation Forecast for 12Z through 18Z on Wednesday March 24th, 2021 as of 5pm March 22nd. Image via WPC.

A Look Ahead:

The rest of the week will be considerably more interesting than the past few days. Highs on Thursday and Friday will be 73 and 77 degrees F, respectively – well above normal highs for this time of year. A thunderstorm is possible late Thursday into Friday, but it is hard to say when it will be most likely to occur as of right now. I will on the edge of my seat checking how this disturbance shapes up later this week!
