Morning Update: It Finally Feels a Lot Like Fall!

Today:

If you got up early enough this morning, you might have been able to see some of the remnants of clouds traveling from the northwest over our area, but besides that, it will be a clear, sunny day. Although the day will start off at a chilly 36 degrees F, it will warm to the upper 50s by late afternoon. Make sure you dress warm! Although it may be upper 50s, the winds will make it seem considerably colder, with sustained winds between 8 and 15 mph from the northwest, and gusts up to 30 mph in some areas. If you haven’t voted yet, there’s no rain to dissuade you from getting that done today!

Tonight:

Overnight, temperatures will not drop as low as they were this morning, but the low will likely still be a chilly 40 degrees F. The high pressure from the day will continue to build overnight as a high pressure center from southwest moves over our area.

Tomorrow (Wednesday):

The high pressure trend will continue to bring dry and mostly clear conditions. A slightly warmer southerly breeze will be felt tomorrow, and highs will be warmer than the day before at around 65 degrees F. Tomorrow will be a beautiful day for a peaceful hike through the colorful trees – an activity which may be necessary to relieve stress depending on election results.

A Look Ahead:

High pressure will continue to bring us dry and mostly clear conditions into the foreseeable future. Some ensemble model guidance even indicates that we may not see a drop of rain for at least one week! The high temperatures each day will get warmer through at least Friday (possibly reaching 70 F on Friday), but the cold temperatures each morning coupled with consistent breezy conditions will make for a classic Fall feeling over the next few days.

No precipitation is expected in the College Park area, in addition to most of eastern MD and most of Pennsylvania and West Virginia, through at least November 10th (for at least one week). This is according to GEFS total accumulated precipitation. Image courtesy of Tropical Tidbits.
