Evening Update: Rainy Return to College Park

Terps were welcomed back to campus with sunny skies this morning, which helped to ease the pain of going to class after having a whole week off. Unfortunately, clouds moved in by noon, and we had some afternoon showers. Today should be the only rainy day this week.

Tonight:

Showers will continue this evening, but they will be fairly light and cause little to no impact on evening activities. Going to the Women’s Basketball Game tonight at 7 p.m. would be a great way to spend your evening and avoid the rain. Sadly, we are not quite done with cold temperatures yet; the overnight low will be near freezing.

Tomorrow (Tuesday):

Rain will clear out by the early morning hours tomorrow, making way for sunny skies. It will be colder than it was today, with a high temperature of 50 degrees, but the sun will still make the day feel nice. Winds will pick up slightly, blowing at 10-14 miles per hour with higher gusts at times.

Tomorrow Night:

Tomorrow night winds will settle down to 3-8 miles per hour, and the temperature will drop back down to near freezing. If you’re going to “Turf Tuesday,” grab that jacket before you go; otherwise, you might regret it later in the night.

A Look Ahead:

The rest of the week will be sunny, and temperatures will steadily increase throughout the week. By Saturday the high temperature will be near 73 degrees! Saturday will be the day to venture into D.C. and spend some time outside because showers will return by the end of next weekend.
