Some Terps woke up this morning to temperatures in the single digits with wind chill values making it feel even colder. Although we did not get the delayed start time some may have been hoping for, students across campus suited up in heavy coats, scarves, and hats to brave the biting cold and get to class on time. Throughout the course of the day we can expect plenty of sunshine paired with temperatures rising to the toasty low-20s. Therefore, today is the perfect day to grab your favorite hot drink and stay indoors as much as possible.
Tonight:
Temperatures will remain frigid in the teens, so if you are planning to go outdoors don’t forget to bundle up! Winds will be light, and precipitation overnight is unlikely. However, clouds will begin moving in after midnight ahead of a low-pressure system.
Tomorrow (Friday):
The cloud cover moving in overnight will give way to an overcast Friday and a chance of snow. Temperatures will reach the upper-20s, remaining below freezing for yet another day. Winds, however, will be light, but wearing all of your winter gear is still necessary.
Tomorrow Night:
Tomorrow night, temperatures will fall to the low-20s and winds will be light. Clouds will stick around and begin to clear around midnight. If you plan to spend your Friday night on Route One, precipitation won’t be a threat, but you may want to consider bringing a warm coat!
A Look Ahead:
The first weekend of February is looking beautiful with sunny skies and high temperatures around 50 degrees both Saturday and Sunday. Winds will be calm and it’s looking like a dry weekend. In other words, if you don’t have plans this weekend you should make some before the weather switches back to feeling like winter late next week.
