Evening Update: Quiet Fall Days after Days of Rain

At last, College Park received a break from the rain, coming out of an exceptionally wet start to the week. Fortunately this rain has not shaken the foliage off of our trees, so be sure to take in the crimson, vermillion, amber, bronze, and gold colored leaves before they form a crunchy brown carpet on the ground. Temperatures today were only slightly above average, with a high of 65 degrees compared to the normal high of 61 for today, however temperatures are expected to drop below average in the coming days.

Tonight:

Surface high pressure will remain in the area tonight, as the low temperature falls to around 46 degrees. Tonight’s skies will be mostly cloudy, and winds will blow at 5 to 7 mph from the southwest, then from the north after midnight.

Tomorrow (Thursday):

Thursday will be mostly sunny, with a north wind around 7 mph. The high temperature will only reach 55 degrees, which is decently below the average high of 61, and well below Wednesday’s high temperature. However, it still may be a good day to take a little breather while studying and take a walk outside, because you can expect rain throughout Friday, and highs this weekend will dip into the upper 40s.

Tomorrow Night:

The chance of rain is 50%, starting in the early morning hours as clouds and a system of low pressure head our way. The overnight low will be 43 degrees, and winds will come from the north at 3 to 7 mph.
