With another warm, dreary day in the books, October is still feeling like an extension of summer instead of fall. But don’t be afraid, College Park is going to be quite spooked by some colder, crisp weather coming in tomorrow. The cool, clear weather is arriving just in time for Homecoming festivities this weekend, so break out the UMD colored flannels, hot apple cider, and pumpkin spice everything to celebrate.
Tonight:
Hot, dreary weather continues into tonight with the temperature dropping to mid-70s by 7 p.m. and staying in the low 70s the rest of the night. Showers, with a slight chance of thunderstorms, are expected to begin as early as 6 p.m. and last through the night, so don’t forget your umbrella! A flash flood warning for the D.C. area is in effect until 6 a.m. tomorrow morning.
Tomorrow (Friday):
Tomorrow will be clear and sunny throughout the day. There’s a high of 62 degrees and low of 50 degrees with a 0 % chance of precipitation. Winds will be blowing northwest around 17 mph with gusts up to 30 mph, so make sure to hang on to your returned exams from the past few weeks tightly!
Tomorrow Night:
Temperatures will drop into the 50s around 5 p.m., and a few clouds may show up later after dark. The northwest winds will calm to around 7 mph, indicating a great “bundle up in a flannel and roast marshmallows around a campfire” kind of night.
A Look Ahead:
It looks like the cold weather is finally here to stay with temperatures forecast to stay around the low 60s and high 50s for the most of next week. A nice, clear weekend is ahead of us, which is great for the upcoming outdoor homecoming festivities this weekend, with possible rainy days early next week.
