Wednesday brought mid-July conditions to College Park, as temperatures pressed the 90 degree mark early in the afternoon. Unfortunately, there was no breeze to help cool off Terps as they head out to class. The rest of the week will continue this theme, thanks to massive ridge parked over the eastern half of the United States.
Through Tonight:
Clear skies should dominate the night, with little to no chance of any precipitation. The night sky should provide some relief from the summer like temperatures, as we will fall into the low to mid 60’s. A light wind of 5-10 MPH out of the southwest will be omnipresent during the night, helping keep temperatures at a comfortable level. For maybe the first time in a while, Terps won’t need to pack a light sweater if heading out tonight.
Tomorrow:
Thursday will feel exactly like today. Scorching heat with temperatures climbing into the low to mid 90’s. Luckily, there will be a light southwest breeze to help cool off anyone walking to class tomorrow afternoon. As typical with large ridges over the area, sun will dominate the sky with very little chance for any rain during the day.
Looking Ahead:
The July like conditions will persist through the end of the week. Fortunately for those who aren’t a fan of the heat, the massive ridge over the area will slide out, cooling us off into the 70’s with the chance of rain this weekend. We should return to much more beautiful, spring like conditions as we head into next week.
