The University of Maryland is still searching for that lovely spring weather. Today was close but we were still much below average for this time of year. The average high temperature for College Park on April 4th is 62 degrees, but we stayed about 10-degrees below that this Thursday. Thankfully, the sunshine helped to brighten things up as the chilly wind gusted into the 20 mph range.
Through Tonight:
The temperatures will continue to stay well below normal this evening as they drop into the mid-to-upper 30s. The winds will stay a bit breezy at 10 to 15 mph before sunset so keep a jacket with you if you’re heading out to those late classes. Once the winds calm down they will drop into the 5 to 10 mph range. There is a slight chance for a passing shower later tonight and very early tomorrow morning. If you have a late night planned, an umbrella may be a good accessory.
Tomorrow (Friday):
SPRING IS COMING… but not for long. Terps, enjoy it while it lasts. The highs on Friday will reach the mid-to-upper 60s with sunshine to boot! Friday is set to be the warmest day of the week. Winds will stay relatively calm during the early morning hours before gusting up to 27 mph. They will be sustained at 10 to 15 mph for the day before finally calming down by midnight.
Get out and enjoy the warmth on Friday because this weekend, Mother Nature flips the calendar back into the winter season. Snow is on the menu for Saturday so keep up with UMD Weather for the latest updates.
