Evening Update: A pleasant weekend with a chance for snow?

The absence of whipping winds and a high in the upper 40s has certainly made this weekend a more welcome precursor to spring break than last weekend. However, a band of clouds and a slow-moving storm system tracking northeast, indicates that Old Man Winter isn’t leaving without a fight or at the very least some grumbling, as we anticipate the slight chance of snow at the end of the weekend into Monday. The pleasant weather associated with the high-pressure ridge is expected to continue at least into tomorrow’s daytime however, so make the most of the weekend as we await an uncertain storm.

Through Tonight:

Skies are likely to remain cloud-free into tonight as high pressure remains in the region with a northerly wind only around 6mph. We will see a chilly nighttime low for March in the upper 20s, a condition reflective of the clear skies. The northerly wind will also contribute to this colder advection of air we will feel tonight.

The potential for upcoming snow we have for Sunday-Monday, but you’ll have to check back in tomorrow and Monday to see if the precipitation forms as snow or rain (via WPC/NOAA).

Tomorrow (Sunday):

Cloud coverage is expected to increase as the day progresses but we should still get a partly sunny day. Highs will once again reach the upper 40s and light winds around 6mph will continue from the north. Tomorrow’s weather will reflect the adage that weather has a 70 percent chance of being similar conditions to the day before. Sunday night is where we start to see a shift of continued increased cloud coverage and chance for light snow showers by pre-dawn (into Monday) but stay tuned for Sunday/Monday’s forecast to see whether the line indicates snow or rain for our region. There is also the possibility the snow showers linger into Tuesday. The degree of uncertainty for this upcoming storm system will make this one fun to track as we start the week.

The potential snow accumulation we could see if the storm tracks as forecasted through Tuesday morning. (via WeatherBell).
