Evening Update: Soggy Weather to Close Out the Week

Days are getting longer, daytime highs are getting warmer, and severe weather season is just about here. Winter is in our rear-view mirror, if you actually count this past winter as winter. The gray and cloudy skies that we woke up to will persist throughout the day and into the night before a good bit of rain heads our way.

Through Tonight:

Clouds will only thicken tonight as temperatures dip into the mid 40s. Around 2 a.m., scattered showers will cover the area. Throughout the night, the precipitation will become heavier and steadier with rainfall amounts totaling up to a quarter of an inch. Winds will remain light and out of the southeast direction around 5 mph.

Tomorrow (Friday):

What better way to transition into spring than to have a gloomy and rainy day? Clean out any debris in your gutters and prepare for wet commutes to and from work. Rain will continue throughout the day, with some rumbles of thunder not out of the question. Winds will shift from the southeast to the east as the low pressure system, responsible for the rain, grazes our area. Even with the cloudy skies and rain, temperatures should figure to reach somewhere between 57-62. Tomorrow’s deluge is much needed for our area, as College Park and surrounding areas could see over an inch tomorrow before the system clears out around midnight.
