Evening Update: Beautiful Weather Continues into Friday

You heard it here first! Winter is officially canceled for our area. Today, February 23rd, temperatures have soared up into the mid-7o’s with locations (such as Dulles airport) topping their previous record daily high temps. Tomorrow, splendid weather conditions will stick around. By Saturday, a strong cold front will push through the area and raise the potential for thunderstorms and rain showers.

Through Tonight: With the exception of a stray shower or two, tonight should be pleasant with light winds breezing out of the south. Later on, fog may develop within areas that receive isolated rain showers (chance of rain is quite low). As low temperatures dip down into the lower 50’s, temperatures will remain warmer than the average high temperature for this time of year.

Tomorrow (Friday): If you need an excuse to go to happy hour, tomorrow’s weather will give you one. Any leftover fog will clear out by mid-morning and bring us back into the mid-7os yet again. Southerly winds will give us a fighting chance to smash old daily high temp records. Below are the past warmest February max temperatures DC has seen (courtesy of @TerpWeather):
