Today’s weather was just MARVELOUS! Ample sunshine and warm air melted the remains of yesterday’s snow. Seasonably mild temperatures peaked to the mid-50’s across the DMV.
Through Tonight: Quiet and breezy in the DMV tonight. Still cold, but not as cold as yesterday’s 25-degree temperatures. In the suburbs, temperatures will range between the low-to-middle 30’s with upper 30’s in the District. A cold front has already pushed through the area. Gusty west-southwest winds will make it feel slightly cooler (wear your jackets if you have any late evening plans). Increasing cloud cover will keep temperatures 10-13 degrees above normal.
Tomorrow (Wednesday): Seasonable and mild on the first day of February. Temperatures are likely to start out in the upper 30’s in the early morning hours. A non-threatening stray shower is possible between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Mostly cloudy skies will limit some much-needed sunshine and keep temperatures about 5 degrees above normal. High temperatures expected to hover around 50 degrees (upper 40’s outside of DC). 5-10 mph winds out of the west will supply a light breeze throughout the day.
Looking Ahead to Super Bowl Sunday
I’m sure you are already planning for Super Bowl Sunday activities. Models are hinting a mix of light rain and “possible” flurries on Sunday afternoon. However, the type of precipitation and the timing of the storm still remains an uncertainty. The earliest activity (if any) could occur around 10 a.m. and last through late Sunday evening (see image below).
