The second day of winter felt more like mid-Autumn with above average temperatures, sunny skies and gusty winds. Wind speeds were as high as 20 mph. Temperatures made it into the mid-to-upper 50’s and blue skies could be seen for miles.
Through Tonight
Before the holiday weekend, weather conditions in the DMV region will remain clear and cold for tonight. By 7pm, wind speeds will decrease to 11 to 13 mph. Low temperatures will drop to below to the upper 20s.
Tomorrow (Friday)
Friday will be a perfect day to get those last minute holiday preparations out of the way and to enjoy the calm weather! Even though cloud cover will increase throughout the day, we will continue to hold ample sunshine. Temperatures are expected to climb to the upper 40s. Winds out of the southwest will remain calm. Friday night will be mostly clear until increasing cloud cover and rain move in after late midnight hours. As night time temperatures settle around the upper 30s, the chance for pre-Christmas snow will be unfortunate.
