After the front moved through the area, it brought with it the breezy conditions we will experience today. A high pressure zone will also start to build. This will continue to build throughout the day Wednesday, and helps to reinforce cooler temperatures. Eventually, the high pressure system will leave our area towards the end of the week, allowing for warm air advection out of the south on Friday (which explains why temperatures return to the 70s by the end of the week).

Via www.pivotalweather.com

Within the map above displaying tonight’s temperatures at the 700 mb level (the low-to-mid part of the troposphere), the wind barbs show clockwise flow in the eastern U.S. As high pressure systems turn in the clockwise direction, the high pressure system depicted by the blue “H” helps to reinforce the colder air being fed into our region.

That’s all for today.
