{"id":5248,"date":"2019-02-26T17:12:39","date_gmt":"2019-02-26T22:12:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/weather.umd.edu\/?p=5248"},"modified":"2019-02-26T17:12:39","modified_gmt":"2019-02-26T22:12:39","slug":"evening-update-calm-and-sunny-conditions-to-counter-fierce-winds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/weather.umd.edu\/wordpress\/2019\/02\/26\/evening-update-calm-and-sunny-conditions-to-counter-fierce-winds\/","title":{"rendered":"Evening Update: Calm and Sunny Conditions to Counter Fierce Winds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today was especially calm after the high winds yesterday that caused <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/transportation\/2019\/02\/25\/dc-region-plagued-by-high-winds-power-outages-monday-morning\/?utm_term=.3ccc80571c37\">thousands of power outages<\/a> in the DC area.\u00a0Today&#8217;s temperatures are actually slightly below average for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weather.gov\/lwx\/dcanme#feb\">today&#8217;s date<\/a>, but with both calm winds and sunny temperatures, today&#8217;s mild temperatures still had many College Park residents longing for spring.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tonight:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>High pressure will build to our north tonight, making for partly cloudy skies, dry conditions, and a low temperature around 28 degrees. The high temperature will be near 42 degrees, and winds from the northeast at around 7 mph will become southeast in the afternoon as the high pressure system moves out.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tomorrow Night:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A weak low pressure system will move over our area tomorrow evening. Skies will be mostly cloudy, and the low temperature will be around 35 degrees.
