Summer was in the air as Terps attended their final classes of the semester. College Park may have avoided the scattered thunderstorms so far, but the low clouds and humidity remained, making today’s mid 80 degree temperatures feel even warmer. Reading day tomorrow will be a small break from classes and the damp heat before finals and 90 degree temperatures on Saturday.
A severe thunderstorm watch is still effect until 7 pm, so stay prepared! The chance of precipitation is 60% with westerly winds at 5 to 10 mph. The clouds will slowly clear out later tonight, and low temperatures will reach 60 degrees.
Tomorrow will be mostly sunny in the morning, with some clouds in the afternoon. But with a high near 80 and a northerly breeze at 7 mph, Friday will still be “sitting on McKeldin Mall” type of weather. Make sure to enjoy the weather and study hard for finals, Terps!
Friday night will start off cloudy, then turn partly cloudy after midnight. The chance of precipitation is 20%, with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm. The low will be around 60 degrees, and winds will be light and variable.
A Look Ahead:
Expect above average temperatures on Saturday as the cold front remains to our north. The record maximum temperature for May 12th was set in 1914 at 93 degrees, which is the high temperature predicted for Saturday. We’ll just have to wait and see if we break any records this weekend! On Sunday the cold front will pass over us, cooling temperatures considerably.
